Masala Smashed Chicken Burger

Ingredients

For Caramelised Onions:

- 1 1/2 tbsp oil

- 2 medium onions, chopped

- 1/4 tsp salt

- 1/2 tsp sugar

 

For the Sauce:

- 1/2 cup mayonnaise

- 1/3 cup tomato ketchup

- 1 1/2 tbsp gherkins, finely chopped

- 1/2 tsp black pepper

- 1/4 tsp garlic powder

 

For the Chicken Patties:

- 1 kg chicken mince

- Caramelised onions (prepared earlier)

- 1 heaped tsp crushed red chili

- 1 tsp cumin seeds

- 1 tsp garam masala powder

- 1 tsp salt

- 1 tsp red chilli powder

- 3 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped

 

Other Ingredients:

- 1/3 cup oil

- Buns

- Cheese slices

- Lettuce

- Tomato slices

- Onion slices

  1. 1. Caramelise the Onions: Heat 1 1/2 tbsp oil in a frying pan over medium to high flame. Add chopped onions, salt, and sugar. Mix and fry until the onions turn dark brown. Set aside to cool.

    2. Prepare the Sauce: In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, tomato ketchup, finely chopped gherkins, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well and refrigerate until needed.

    3. Make the Chicken Patties: In a large bowl, mix the chicken mince with the caramelized onions, crushed red chili, cumin seeds, garam masala powder, salt, red chili powder, and chopped coriander leaves. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.

    4. Toast the Buns: Heat a grill pan, brush with a little oil, and toast the buns on both sides until golden brown.

    5. Cook the Chicken Patties: Heat 1/3 cup oil in a pan. Add the chicken patties and press them down to ensure they don't shrink. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until cooked through.

    6. Melt the Cheese: Place cheese slices on the cooked patties and let them melt.

    7. Assemble the Burgers: Spread the prepared sauce on the buns. Layer with lettuce, tomato slices, onion slices, and the cooked chicken patties. Top with the bun.

    8. Serve: Serve the Masala Smashed Burgers hot with fries, cold drinks, and additional sauces.
