Kolhapuri Chicken

Ingredients

For Marination:

 1: chicken 1 kg

 2: yogurt 500g

 3: ginger & garlic paste 1 tbsp

 4: lemon juice 1 tbsp

 5: salt 1 tsp

 6: turmeric 1 tsp

 7: red chilli powder 1 & 1/2 tsp

 

 Other Ingredients:

 1: oil 1/2 cup

 2: bay leaves 2

 3: cinnamon sticks 2

 4: cloves 8

 5: onions 2 large (grind)

 6: tomatoes 3 large (grind)

 7: crushed black pepper 1 tsp

 8: desiccated coconut 2 tbsp

 9: fresh coriander handful

10: green chilli 4

Instructions

  1. 1: in a bowl add all ingredients under marination mix well and keep aside for 1 hour.

     2: heat oil add bay leaves, cloves, cinnamon sticks, onion and fry on high flame till the onions change colour.

     3: add tomatoes, crushed black pepper, desiccated coconut mix well, cook on high flame till the oil separates.

     4: now add the marinated chicken mix well and cook on high flame till the chicken changes colour from pink to white.

     5: then add water 1 cup mix and wait for a boil on high flame, now cover and cook on medium flame till the chicken is tender and oil separates.

     6: add fresh coriander, green chilli mix and simmer on low flame for 4 minutes.

     7: serve hot with boiled rice, roti.
