DAAL (Lentil) FRY

Ingredients

1: toor dal 6 tbsp

2: moong dal 9 tbsp

3: mash dal 1 tbsp (Split)

4: mash dal 1 tbsp (Whole)

5: Chana dal 6 tbsp

6: tomatoes 4 (grinned)

7: onions 2 medium (grinned)

8: ginger & garlic paste 2 tbsp

9: green chilli 4

10: cumin seeds 1 tsp

11: bay leaf 3

12: dry red chilli 5

13: crushed red chilli 1 & 1/2 tbsp

14: salt 

15: cumin powder 1 & 1/2 tsp

16: garam masala powder 1 tsp

17: coriander powder 1 & 1/2 tsp

18: turmeric 1/2 tsp

19: dry mango powder 1 tsp

20: dry fenugreek leaves 1 tbsp

21: water 1 glass

22: oil or ghee 1 cup

23: coal to smoke

24: fresh coriander 4 tbsp

25: coriander seeds 1 tsp (crushed)

Instructions

  1. NOTE: wash and soak all 5 dals in water (overnight), then wash it the next day and boil it till gets tender.

    1: grind ginger, garlic and green chilli to a paste.

    2: heat ghee add cumin seeds, bay leaves, dry red chilli, coriander seeds, ginger & garlic and green chilli paste,   crushed red chilli mix and cook on high flame till it changes colour.

    3: then add onion and cook on high flame till changes colour.

    4: now add tomato paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, salt, dry mango powder, turmeric, and dry fenugreek leaves mix well and cook on high flame till the ghee comes on the surface.

    5: add the boiled daal, and water and wait for a boil on high flame, then cover and simmer for 15 minutes, on low flame.

    6: heat a coal.

    7: Place the coal on the daal and add some oil cover, as shown in the video.

    8: then add garam masala powder, and coriander leaves, and mix.

    9: Served hot with Tandoori Roti or rice.
