ITALIAN PIZZA SAUCE (HOMEMADE)

Ingredients

1: 1 finely chopped onion

2: 1 tsp garlic, grated

3: 175 ml water
 
4: 1 tbsp dried basil
 
5: 1 tbsp dried oregano
 
6: 1/2 tsp sugar
 
7: 1 tsp tomato ketchup
 
8: 1 tbsp tomato puree
 
9: 2 tins chopped or plum tomatoes(260g drained)
 
10: 1 tsp Italian mixed herbs
 
11: Level tsp salt
 
12: Level tsp ground black pepper
 
13: 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. ITALIAN PIZZA SAUCE (HOMEMADE)

    1: Heat oil in a pan. Chop onion, and grate garlic; add to pan stirring for 3 mins. Do not allow to color. Pour in the water and simmer till the water has reduced by half before adding the tomatoes, basil, oregano, ketchup, puree, sugar, and salt.

    2:Break down the tomatoes with a wooden spoon, give everything a good stir, cover, and simmer gently for 30 mins. 
     
    3:Remove lid and add the mixed herbs and pepper, cover, and simmer for a further 15 mins.
        Enjoy!
     
    Tip:
     
    It's a thick rich sauce with tomato and onion so for fussy kids just blend it till it's smooth.
