Shahi Murgh Recipe

Ingredients

 

 

 Experience the opulence of Shahi Murgh, a rich and aromatic chicken dish with a blend of special spices and creamy cashew-pistachio paste. Serve this regal delight with your favourite bread or rice.

 

 For the Special Powder:

- 2 tbsp Cashew Nuts

- 2 tbsp Pistachios

- 1 1/2 tbsp Sesame Seeds

 

 For Marinating the Chicken:

- 1 kg Chicken

- Special Powder (from above)

- 2 tbsp Ginger & Garlic Paste

- 2 tsp Cumin Seeds (heaped)

- 1 tsp Turmeric

- 1 1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder

- 1 1/2 tsp Salt

- 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder

- 1/2 tsp Green Cardamom Powder

- A pinch of Saffron (mixed with 4 tbsp milk)

- 1 cup Yogurt

 

 Other Ingredients:

- 3/4 cup Ghee

- 2 Large Onions (ground)

- 6 Green Chillies (bulleted)

- Handful of Fresh Coriander

  1. Shahi Murgh Recipe

     1. Prepare the Special Powder:

       - In a blender, combine cashew nuts, pistachios, and sesame seeds. Grind them into a fine powder. Set aside.

     

     2. Marinate the Chicken:

       - In a mixing bowl, combine the chicken with the special powder, ginger & garlic paste, cumin seeds, turmeric, red chilli powder, salt, garam masala powder, green cardamom powder, saffron-infused milk, and yogurt. Mix thoroughly and marinate for 1 to 2 hours.

     

     3. Sauté Onions in Ghee:

       - Heat ghee in a pan over high flame. Add the ground onions and fry until they turn golden brown.

     

     4. Cook the Marinated Chicken:

       - Add the marinated chicken to the pan and sauté in the ghee until it changes color and becomes fragrant.

     

     5. Simmer and Tenderise:

       - Pour in 1 cup of water, mix well, cover, and simmer on low to medium heat until the chicken becomes tender, and the ghee starts to separate.

     

     6. Add Spices and Herbs:

       - Stir in green chillies and fresh coriander. Mix well to incorporate the flavours.

     

     7. Serve Royalty on a Plate:

       - Shahi Murgh is ready to be served! Enjoy this regal chicken dish with your choice of roti, naan, paratha, or rice.
