Special Dal Chicken Recipe

Ingredients

 

 1: red lentils 200g (massor dal) washed and soaked for 3 hours

 2: chickpeas 500g (chana dal) washed and soaked for 3 hours

 3: split pigeon peas 300g (toor dal) washed and soaked for 3 hours

 4: water 4 large glass (or) as required

 5: turmeric 1/2 tsp (heaped)

 6: Bottle gourd 500g (lauki) boiled & slightly mashed

 7: oil 1/3 cup

 8: cinnamon sticks 2 pieces

 9: star anise 1

10: black cardamom 2

11: cumin seeds 1 & 1/2 tsp

12: onion 1 large (finely sliced)

13: ginger & garlic paste 1 & 1/2 tbsp

14: green chilli 4 (finely chopped)

15: tomatoes 3 large (chopped)

16: red chilli powder 2 tsp (heaped)

17: turmeric 1/2 tsp

18: salt 2 tsp (heaped)

19: chicken 1 kg

20: mix achar 2 tbsp

21: garam masala powder 1 tsp (heaped)

22: green chilli 6

23: fresh coriander hand-full

 

 For Tarka (tempering):

 1: ghee 1 /3 cup (heaped)

 2: garlic 5 (sliced)

 3: button red chilli 6

 4: red chilli powder 1/4 tsp

 

Instructions

  1. Special Dal Chicken Recipe

     1: soak all three the dal for 3 hours.

     2: place the dal in a pot with water, turmeric and boil till gets tender.

     3: peel the bottle gourd & boil it with 1 cup water and then mash it.

     4: heat oil add cinnamon sticks, black cardamom, cumin seeds, star anise, onion, ginger and garlic paste, green chilli and fry on high flame till gets dark golden.

     5: then add the tomatoes, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric, water 1 cup mix and cook on medium flame till the tomatoes reduce and oil separates.

     6: add chicken and fry in the masala for a few minutes till changes colour on high flame.

     7: now ad mix achar, boiled lauki, water 1 cup mix cover and cook on low to medium flame till the chicken is tender and oil separates.

     8: add the boil lentils, garam masala powder mix and simmer for 7 to 8 minutes on low flame.

     9: in a frying pan melt the ghee add garlic, button red chilli and fry till get golden and then add red chilli powder and transfer this on the dal.

    10: garnish it with green chilli, fresh coriander.

    11: serve hot with, rice, roti, naan, paratha.
