BALTI DAL RECIPE
Ingredients
1: chana daal 1 & 1/2 cup (boiled)(split chickpeas)
2: mash dal 1 cup (boiled)(White Lentil)
3: tomatoes 3 (grinned)
4: onion 1 large (finely sliced)
5: black mustard seeds 1 tsp
6: garam masala powder 1 tsp
7: red chilli powder 1 tsp
8: turmeric 1/2 tsp
9: salt 1 tsp (heaped)
10: jaggery 1 tbsp (gur)
11: green chilli 2 (sliced)
12: fresh coriander 1/3 cup
For Tempering:
1: onion 1 small (finely sliced)
2: button red chilli 5
3: cumin seeds 1 tsp
5: curry leaves 6
6: garlic 3 (sliced)
7: ghee or oil 1/2 cup
8: oil 1/3 cup
Instructions

1: heat oil and fry onions till golden.
2: add mustard seeds, tomatoes, red chilli powder, salt, turmeric, jaggery, water 1 cup mix, and cook on high flame till no liquid is left.
3: add the boiled dal, and water 2 cups, wait for a boil and then cook on medium to high flame, till little water is left, add green chilli, fresh coriander, and garam masala mix. (it is your choice if you want more liquid in your dal or less).
4: heat ghee add onion fry till golden on high flame, then add garlic, and cumin, wait for the garlic to change colour, now add red chilli, and curry leaves add this to the cooked dal.
5: Served hot with roti, boiled rice, paratha.
